Furniture Packing
At the end of any month in the big city you will see bakkies overloaded with furniture moving precariously from one place to another as DIY movers change apartments. We know that not everybody can afford to hire a furniture removal company, but when you are making an important move, especially when moving a long distance with a lot of valuable belongings, furniture packing should be left to the professionals. Just piling your belongings into the back of a truck is asking for trouble. Active Transport is a furniture packing and removals and storage company that was founded in 1989 by Gerhard Groenewald in Pretoria. The company was expanded in 1996 when a mini-furniture removals company was added to the company. The following year an 800 square metre warehouse was opened in Pretoria to enable us to store furniture and belongings for extended periods of time.
Furniture packing has to be carried out very carefully and systematically, and this is one of the reasons why each of our fleet of trucks carries at least 200 soft woollen blankets to protect any of your belongings from being scratched. Fragile items such as pictures in frames, with or without glass, should be packed carefully into wooden crates for protection. There is a specific way of packing most items in such a way as to ensure the maximum protection. Did you know, for example, that dinner plates should be packed wrapped separately and stacked on their sides.
