Moving Home

Don’t let anybody fool you; moving home can be a very traumatic experience. In fact some would argue that it ranks next to bereavement and divorce among the most stressful of circumstances that we are subject to. If you know your timetable well in advance it is possible to lessen the stress of moving home by doing some careful planning well beforehand. In fact, the earlier that you can start on your planning, the better, especially if the move is long distance. The first thing to do is to start off by getting quotes from reputable removal companies. By the time you get to six to eight weeks before the move you should have made a final decision about which company you are going to use. As soon as you have done this and you know the date of moving, make your booking to avoid later disappointment.

Make a list of all the things you have to do when moving home. There are plenty of sites on the Internet where you can get extremely useful tips to apply when the time comes. Find out from your moving company what they will supply and what you have to supply yourself – a good removals company will supply everything (boxes, bubble wrap etc.). You can start thinking about canceling subscriptions and sending out advisories of your pending change of address. If you have anything you’ve borrowed from your present neighbor – now is the time to return it. Moving home does not have to be as stressful as it is made out when you plan ahead and stick to your plan.
