Relocation lies within the top three most stressful happenings, but you can minimize stress by taking note of a few removal tips. These removal tips have been compiled by professionals, and you can find more tips by doing a Google search on the Internet.
- Start getting quotations at least three months in advance of your move. Shop around and make sure that you get references from the removal company you decide upon.
- Make the final as early as you can to avoid later disappointment.
- Ensure that our trucks can have access to your residence – there are additional charges if you need a shuttle between house and truck.
- Make sure you organize insurance on any long distance move.
- Advise all relevant services and friends of your imminent change of address
- Video-tape or photograph your more important belongings, and take note of serial numbers.
- Dismantle any furniture that has to be broken down – tape loose screws etc to the item they come from.
- Wash or have cleaned any curtains and rugs, and wrap them ready for packing
- Do away with old clothes and any other items that can be classed as junk
- Start using up all perishable foodstuffs, including frozen foods
- Make arrangements for relocation of your pets
- Pack electronic equipment in its original packing if possible
- Take down and stack all pictures and fill holes in walls with plaster
- On the day before moving, empty and defrost freezers and fridges and put drum locks in washing machines etc.
