Further tips when using Truck rentals

The week immediately before moving will see you start to get very busy, and it’s very easy to forget something important until it’s too late unless you have a check and stick to it, so have your check list ready at least a week, if not a month before the truck rentals company is due to arrive. It’s a very good idea to arrange for some extra help to come in on your moving day. Make sure that you plan well ahead for any special needs for your pets or infants. If you have any large pieces of furniture such as a four-poster bed that will dismantle, do this during the week before you are expecting the truck rentals company. This will not only make it a lot easier for them to move, but will also lessen the risk of damage and breakage during the actual move.

Doors on furniture have a tendency to open whilst in transit, so secure all doors well on such items with straps or cords. If you still have the original boxes for your audio and video equipment, use them accordingly. But any cables in the boxes with the appropriate equipment or tape them onto the equipment with sticky tape. The same goes for any screws that you have to remove prior to transport. Most truck rentals companies will supply you with wardrobe cartons for clothes that must remain hanging – you can put pillows and blankets on the floor of such cartons, but don’t make them too heavy as it makes it difficult for the truck rentals people to manoeuvre. Finally make sure that all fridges and freezers are empty and defrosted before the day of the move.
