Logistics Company
The term “logistics” has its origins in ancient Greek and has grown to mean the management of the flow of goods. Logistics is considered to have grown from military uses and relates to the supply of weapons and victuals to military organisations in remote places. In modern days a logistics company is one that both organises and moves goods from one place to another. In a transport company such as Active Transport, logistics involves not just the transportation of your furniture and belongings from point A to point B, but also initial information regarding the move and the items to be moved, inventory, warehousing, material handling and, last but not least, packaging. In other words, when we are handling everything about your move, and that includes packing, taking an inventory, and storing your goods in our warehouse, you are using us as a logistics company.
Essentially then, if you were to be relocating from South Africa to, say, Australia, you would be doing so with the aid of a logistics company. We would organise everything from the original packaging of your belongings at your residence, the initial storage of the same, their packaging into a container and their shipping across the Indian Ocean to your final destination.
